Design Brief 2 - Coming Together

Once we came to the deadline of finishing our letters, we then got together and spoke about how we found the task and what we did and didn't like. We both agreed that we should have thought about the prompts more or given ourselves 1 prompt and then develop a typeface based around that prompt. This is because we found that we enjoying designing letterforms in a certain style more than others and wanted to make more in that style. As you can see above I didn't fully complete the task whereas Jack did manage to design a letterform for each of the days.
After we spoke about the brief we then moved onto picking the letterforms, we did this by putting both of our letterforms beside one another and then identifying which one we liked best and why. This then determined which one we would use for our typeface. We did this for every letterform and for the ones which I was missing we had to go with Jacks's design. For the letterforms we didn't agree on, we played a game of rock paper scissors and whoever won decided which letterform we were going to use.
Above is a screenshot of all the letterforms within the calligrapher template. Calligraphr is an online tool that allows you to take the template and add your letterform on top to then upload it and create it into a typeable font.

After the letterforms were placed into the template, I then had to format each letter to ensure they were the same size as one another. I did this by aligning the top of the letterform to the ascender line and the bottom of the letterform to the descender line. I also had to change the colour of the letterforms to a true black to allow us to add colour to the letterforms and make it be true to the colour you have picked. If it was another colour or a off black the colour selected when using the typeface will not be the colour the typeface ends up.
After all the formating was done within the template, I then uploaded it to calligraphr which made it into a typeable font. However when it was uploaded I noticed some differences in the letterforms regarding the colour and gradients within some of the letters. However I left it as I thought that added to the typeface.
