Design Brief 4 - Estimate Design

After producing the logo and business card designs I then moved onto the estimate template, at first I added a brush stroke element within the design. However I think this was to on the nose for the design as well as I have no included it within any other of the design elements and applying within the estimate design. Would make this part of the branding not cohesive with the rest of the designs.

After identifying that the paint stroke wasn't working I then started to produce a more clean and simple estimate design to fit with the rest of the design elements. Above are my initial design I produced I thought all of them were successful however the design with the triangle worked the best. As well this kept all the branding consistent as all the element include the triangle within the designs.

Once picking the design, I then moved onto experimenting with different layout of the design. Within this section I moved the billing address and date to the top of estimate and placed the final price In the middle. I also tried all the various logos within the design. But after taking a step back I found the design where the price was at the right worked better.

I then moved onto placing the logo in the middle as when it was positioned to the right and the billing address and date were on the same line of the price the top right of the estimate had too much negative space. So positioning the logo in the middle made the estimate have balance and didn't make it look like something was missing. I experiemented with 2 logos as I found the logo with all the information was too much and the customer already knew the information within that logo. I was happy with the design of the estimate but I was stuck on which logo to use. So I cut the bottom half of the design off and just looked at the top and found that the name of the company needed to be on. So the customer would be able to easily identify who the estimate was from. So I decided to go with the secondary logo, I also changed the colour of the final price to orange as when it was red it looks like it was a final notice letter.

After finishing the design I then mockup it up so John would be able to identify the design in real life and see how it would work.

After I finished the design I then moved onto taking the design and adding it too word. I added the logo, triangle and numbers at the bottom as picture for the background. Then I inserted a table to allow me to include all the information in the correct place following the initial design within illustrator.
