Design Brief 4 - Logo Presentation

After I selected which I believed to be the 3 strongest concepts for the branding as well as the brand refresh. I developed a presentation in which I can show the client the work I have produced for the brief so far and allow them to comment on what they do and don't like and pick a logo I should move on with.
When speaking to John after showing him the presentation, he liked all the logos however he wanted a full redesign rather than a refresh. So the first logo I produced was out of the picture. . John's favorite logo was number 2 as he liked the bold typeface as well as the iconography of the paintbrush. He immediately loved this logo and said that the one he wanted to go with and so I questioned why he didn't like the others. He said logos 3 and 4 both incorporated a roller within the design which he also didn't like as one of his competitors within the village is branded with a roller.
