Design Brief 4 - Logo Start

To begin this branding brief, I looked at the already existing branding and I then decided to gave the client the option of a brand refresh rather than a full new brand if they decide to go with this option. I started off by developing and designing a new icon for the brand this being a brush and paint bucket. As you can see I tried each design of bucket in various different formats and colour options. However the strongest one I believe was the third one on the right so I will take this illustration and use in conjunction with the type.

After Identifying the illustration I was going to use, I then moved onto adding it with different type layouts for the logo. However ensuring I keep the look and feel of the already existing branding, this was achieved by implementing the long rounded off rectangle found in the existing branding in the new branding. Doing so made me see that any shape would work as long as had rounded off corners so I experimented with different rectangle shapes and sizes. I also tried the logo inside a circle which I thought worked the best as the type wrapped around perfectly and it gave the logo overall balance in the design. It also allowed the design to overall smaller in footprint as the brand name could be stacked rather than restricted to one line.

After producing the brand refresh concept, I then moved onto developing some initial logo using the elements I produced in the refreshed brand concept. I also experiemented with incorporating a roller into the design as this is another item that is related to painting and decorating. I also experimented with different typeface but I found that made soulmaze was the working the best for the concepts I was producing.

Once I finished producing all the logo, I then selected the 3 which I found had the most potential if taken to the development stage. I will show these as well as the brand refresh concept to the client.
